Terms of Use

The rules for using Word Anatomy, in plain English.

Last updated: 31 October 2026

1. Accepting these terms

Word Anatomy (the "app") is operated by Adnan Zawad Toky, an individual developer publishing apps as Duha Apps ("we", "us"). These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and us. By tapping Agree & continue during setup, or by using the app, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to agree to these terms, to use the app.

2. The service

Word Anatomy lets you look up a word, phrase or sentence and shows you a dictionary entry written in the language you choose. Please keep in mind:

  • Entries are written by AI. An AI model generates each entry. AI can be wrong, incomplete, out of date or inappropriate, and it can sound confident when it is wrong.
  • Not professional advice. Entries are for general information and language learning only. They are not legal, medical, financial, translation-certification or other professional advice. Do not rely on them where a mistake could cause harm; check with a qualified person or an authoritative source.
  • No guarantee of accuracy or availability. We do not promise that any entry is correct, or that the app will always be available, fast or free of errors. The app needs an internet connection for new lookups, and each install has a daily limit on new AI lookups.

3. Acceptable use

Please use the app the way it is meant to be used: to look up and understand language. You agree not to:

  • abuse, overload or disrupt the app or our servers, or try to get around daily limits, app-integrity checks or other protections;
  • scrape, harvest or bulk-download entries, or use automated means (bots, scripts) to access the service;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
  • use the app to create, look up or spread content that is illegal, or to harass, threaten or harm anyone;
  • put other people's personal data (names together with contact details, ID numbers, health or financial information, and so on) into lookups or report notes;
  • use entries to build or train a competing dictionary, data set or AI model; or
  • pretend to be us, or suggest that we endorse something we do not.

4. Your lookups and reports

The text you look up is sent to our server and to an AI provider so that an entry can be written, as described in the Privacy Policy. Generated entries are cached and can be shown to other people who look up the same text, so do not look up anything private.

Every entry has a Report option. When you send a report, you let us use it, including your optional note, to review, correct, remove or regenerate entries and to improve the app. Reports are kept as the Privacy Policy describes.

You are responsible for what you type into the app. You keep whatever rights you have in it.

5. Intellectual property

  • Ours. The app, its design, icon, name, text and software belong to Duha Apps or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these terms.
  • Wikipedia excerpts. Article summaries come from Wikipedia and are shown under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). You may reuse them under that licence, with attribution to Wikipedia.
  • Third-party licences. The app includes open-source software and fonts used under their own licences. Those licences apply to those parts, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under them.

6. Third-party services

The app relies on services run by others, including:

  • an AI provider that writes entries (see the Privacy Policy for which one);
  • Wikimedia, for Wikipedia summaries;
  • Cloudflare, which hosts our server, and Google Firebase, for usage counts and crash reports; and
  • Apple and Google, which distribute the app and check that it is genuine.

We are not responsible for those services, and they may change or stop. Your use of the App Store or Google Play is governed by Apple's and Google's own terms (for Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service).

7. Apple App Store

If you got the app from the Apple App Store, your licence to use it is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the standard EULA). These terms apply alongside it; if the two conflict, the standard EULA applies to the extent of the conflict. In addition:

  • These terms are between you and Adnan Zawad Toky (Duha Apps) only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any (the app is free). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection or privacy claims, or claims that the app or your use of it infringes someone else's intellectual property.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.

8. A free service that may change

Word Anatomy is free, with no account and no ads. We may change, limit or add features, change daily limits, or stop offering the app or the service behind it at any time, temporarily or permanently. If we stop the service, new lookups will no longer work; words you saved stay on your device.

9. No warranties

To the extent permitted by law, the app and all entries are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, or that the app will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Duha Apps will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app or any entry, even if we were told such loss was possible. Because the app is free, to the extent permitted by law our total liability to you for all claims about the app is limited to zero, or, where the law does not allow that, to the lowest amount it does allow.

Some countries do not allow certain warranties to be excluded or liability to be limited. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or takes away rights you have under the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.

11. Termination

You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may limit or refuse requests from an install, without notice, if we reasonably believe it is being used in breach of these terms or in a way that could harm the service or other people. Sections 4, 5, 9, 10 and 13 continue to apply after you stop using the app.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example when the app or the law changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app where we reasonably can. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws that apply to the operator of the app, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not take away any protection you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live.

If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first at support@duhaapps.com and give us a chance to resolve it informally before starting any formal proceedings.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in effect to the fullest extent the law allows.
