Common questions
How do I look up a word from another app?
Open Word Anatomy once and finish setup first. Then:
iPhone and iPad
- Select the word or text, then tap Share in the menu that appears.
- Tap Word Anatomy in the row of apps. A card shows the meaning.
Not in the row? Scroll to the end of the row, tap More, and add Word Anatomy.
Android
- Select the word or text.
- Tap Word Anatomy in the text-selection menu. If you do not see it, tap the three dots in that menu first. A card slides up with the meaning.
How do I add the Home Screen widget?
iPhone and iPad
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
- Tap Edit, then Add Widget (on older iOS versions, tap the + button).
- Search for Word Anatomy, choose the small or medium size, and tap Add Widget.
Android
- Touch and hold an empty area of the home screen, then tap Widgets.
- Find Word Anatomy.
- Touch and hold a widget (Word Anatomy search or Look up) and drag it to where you want it.
The steps can differ a little between phone makers.
An entry looks wrong. How do I report it?
Entries are written by AI and can be wrong or inappropriate. On the entry, tap Report, choose a reason, add a note if you like, and send it. When enough different people report the same entry, we remove it and write it again. We also filter AI output for unsafe content. You can email us about an entry too.
How do I delete my data?
Uninstall the app. Your saved words and lookup history are stored only on your device, so uninstalling removes them. There is no account, and what we keep on our server is not linked to you: usage counters are deleted after 30 days, reports after 365 days and cached entries within 90 days, while the anonymous install record is kept. The privacy policy has the details.
Why do I see a daily limit message?
Each install can make a limited number of new AI lookups per day. Entries we already have are free and do not count. The limit resets at midnight UTC.
For what the app sends and how long it is kept, read the privacy policy. The rules for using the app are in the terms of use.
